Case Study: Floor Sanding North Shore Sydney

Diamond Service Floor Sanding North Shore Case Study

Floor Sanding North Shore Sydney Case Study – Our North Sydney clients are often professional families, with young children, busy lives, long working hours, and not a lot of extra time to do those tricky jobs like moving out of the house to get your floors sanded. As a young family ourselves with a growing business and young children, and a busy schedule, we get it!

So this year we introduced a complete service, to make the process hassle-free and easy, which we called the ‘Diamond Service’. We have created a network of trusted affiliates including furniture removals companies, cleaning companies, and internal painters, all local to the North Shore and Northern Beaches.

One of our first major jobs to book a diamond service in the North Shore, was a 4 level, 350m2 home with an enormous staircase, and a lot of furniture! So you can see why we needed the professionals!

The job was booked 5 months in advance, as a part of a major renovation. The client had been planning the renovation for 10 years, so to hand it back clean, study, hassle-free, and ready to move back in was so important. We worked with the builder to create a tight schedule to have all of the trades and services coordinated to complete the job within 12 working days, including all furniture and cleaning. We split the project into two stages so that the furniture didn’t need to be moved offsite, rather into the other section.

North Shore Floor Sanding Case Study – Stage 1

7 am on Monday, the removals company packed all of the personal belongings and furniture in the top sections and stored them in the central part of the home. One hour after this, we were already sanding and underway with the restoration on the top level while the removalists moved onto the next levels.

By Wednesday, all of the sanding in stage 1 was complete and the staining began. The client chose a dark stain called Coal Nitro Stain by Fiddes, which really brings out a dramatic, smoked look on the Blackbutt floorboards in this section of the home.  On Thursday and Friday we applied the clear coats over the top, which we used a Polycure Silky Matt for the hard wearing, low maintenance finish that the client was after.

The following Monday, the removals company was back along with the cleaners. Everything was cleaned, dusted, bathrooms thoroughly cleaned, and furniture back in place. The stage two lower section of the house were then emptied, and all the furniture stored in the huge dining and entertainment area that had already been completed.

The process was then repeated on stage 2, sanding, staining, and finishing with a coal nitro stain from Fiddes, however, this section had a rare, original King Billy pine, which when stained really bought out the natural feature of the timber, a very defined stripe grain. The effect was stunning and so unusual.

The floor was then left to dry over the weekend, and on the final two days the cleaners went in to make the house sparkling clean, and the removalists put everything back in its place, ready for the final handover.

The co-ordination was a big part of this job, and the result was a happy client with a sparkling home with new floors, ready to move back in. The best part was being able to see the client’s face when they arrived home to see the transformation of their original North Sydney home from old, dated, orange floors, to contemporary, beautiful, dark floors to suit their style and compliment their home.
